Lost Your Phone? Here’s How You Can Block It Using CEIR
Sanchar Saathi Guide
Lost Your Phone? Block It Instantly with CEIR!
Losing your phone is stressful: it holds your photos, contacts, and financial apps. To keep your data safe, the Government of India offers the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) system, which lets you block your stolen or lost phone remotely, making it useless to thieves.
Here is the simple, 4-step process to secure your device
using the official Sanchar Saathi platform.
▶ The 4 Essential Steps to Block Your Phone
STEP 1
Prepare Your Paperwork
›
File a Police Complaint (FIR): Do this first. Get a copy of the complaint and the Police Complaint Number.
Get a Duplicate SIM: Contact your mobile company for a new SIM with your lost number. You need this active number for the blocking process.
Find Your IMEI: Locate your phone's unique IMEI number(s) from the original box or purchase invoice.
STEP 2
Visit the CEIR Website
›
Go to www.ceir.gov.in (the official Sanchar Saathi portal).
Click on "Block Stolen/Lost Mobile".
STEP 3
Fill Out and Submit the Form
›
Enter all required details: your contact info, the Police Complaint Number, and your phone's IMEI(s).
Upload the copy of the Police Complaint.
STEP 4
Track Your Request
›
You will receive a Request ID: save this!
Your phone's IMEI will be blocked, making it unusable with any SIM card.
✅ Unblock If You Find It
Recovered your phone? Just follow these steps to unblock it:
- • Go back to www.ceir.gov.in.
- • Click "Unblock Mobile".
- • Enter your Request ID and submit the application.
